A warm welcome to the historic city of Raipur, founded by Kalchuri King Ram Chandra in the last quarter of the 14th century, located 25 km from the industrial town of Bhilai and 41km from Durg.
Raipur is located near the centre of a large plain and hence is also called the "rice bowl of India". Hundreds of varieties of rice crops are grown here. The Mahanadi River flows to the east of the city of Raipur, and the southern side has dense forests. Raipur has a tropical wet and dry climate; temperatures remain moderate throughout the year, except from March to June. The city receives about 1,300 millimetres (51") of rain, mostly in the monsoon season from late June to early October. Winters last from November to January and are mild.
Venkatesh Raipur has a selection of on-site and off-site activities to cater to the needs of different guests. Attracted to ancient temples, ruins and sculptures? We recommend you take a guided tour of Sirpur, a land of temples and monasteries. For the shopaholic, retail therapy is just a step away. Magneto The Mall has a range of boutiques waiting to be explored along with a four-screen multiplex cinema for movie lovers.
If appreciation of local culture and heritage rules the day, we recommend a visit to Chhattisgarh Haat and Mahant Ghasidas Museum.
For fitness enthusiasts who never miss a work-out even while they travel.
The city of Raipur and its adjoining areas are a goldmine of history.
